A brightening and exfoliating serum in one. Botanical extracts and exceptionally gentle pumpkin enzymes balance cellular turnover and revive the skin’s natural glow and smooth texture. Helps to treat acne, fine lines and brighten dull skin without the irritating effects associated with retinols.
A highly potent nighttime treatment recommended 1x per week.
This product is good for:
Starting by using Il every other evening, then adjusting if needed. Illumina is to be used 1x per week – 1x per day - only in the evening.
Apply after cleansing/toning and before moisturizer/oils.
If using Illumina, do not apply any other exfoliating product at the same time.
Pump 1-2 pumps of product onto fingertips. Gently dot finger tips onto left cheek, right cheek, chin and forehead, making sure that the first area you dot doesn’t take all the product.
Once product has been evenly divided between the 4 quadrants of the face, use both hands to massage product into the skin, working to cover the entire facial area.
If there is not enough product, use 1/2 more pump where needed. If there is too much product, spread it onto neck as best as possible.
Wait 1-2 minutes before applying next product.
Pumpkin Enzymes – AHAs or traditional enzymes such as papain or bromelain tend to be irritating on the skin. Unlike traditional materials, pumpkin enzymes show an uncommonly mild irritation profile in tests; results confirm that pumpkin is only slightly more irritating than glycerin.
White Willow Bark – White willow bark extract acts as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic agent. Willow bark extracts are employed as a natural source of salicylic acid. White Willow Bark provides the benefits of salicylic acid such as BHA exfoliation, and anti-microbial action, without any of the typically associated irritation.
Vigna Acontifolia Seed – Vigna Acontifolia Seed Extract has a demonstrated ability to help boost cell renewal, similar to retinol, without the associated irritation. When used at similar levels, the extract’s efficacy comparable to that of Retinol. Additionally, it has potent antioxidant properties.
Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate – Several studies have shown this to be as effective as retinol in reducing acne lesions. In one study, acne lesions decreased by 20% after 4 weeks, and 48% after 8 weeks using SAP and 21% and 49% using retinol.
Burdock Root – An exceptional multi-tasking botanical. Cools heat, strengthens the lymphatic processes, purifies and removes toxins. Soothing and anti-bacterial properties. One study showed that topical treatment with a natural burdock extract significantly improved the metabolism of the dermal extracellular matrix and led to a visible wrinkle reduction.
Plant Ceramides – A crucial component of a healthy skin barrier. The lipid matrix of a healthy, protective skin barrier consists of fatty acids (found in oils and butters), ceramides and cholesterol (much more difficult to find as topical supplements). Our ceramides are plant derived and support the health of the stratum corneum.
King of Bitters – is traditionally used in Ayurveda and Chinese Medicine. Highly anti-inflammatory, with some anti-bacterial activity. Has been shown to decrease glycation caused by UV radiation, as well as increase skin collagen content.
Smallflower + Saw Palmetto CO2 Complex – both of these herbs show significant activity against the 5alpha reductase enzyme that increases testosterone activity in the skin, leading to a higher instance of acne lesions. Since beta sisterols (the active component of Saw Palmetto) are oil soluble, moss uses a rare CO2 extraction to fully draw out the powers of the phytonutrients.
Olive Leaf – is traditionally used in Ayurveda and Chinese Medicine. Strongly anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant.
